Planning for Progress

Pinellas County Schools hosted a series of community meetings across the district to share school-specific data and gather feedback on population and enrollment trends, facility planning and school utilization.

Second Grade Teachers

Mr. Robert Ferguson

Hello there! My name is Rob Ferguson and I’m delighted to be teaching 2nd grade at Tarpon Springs Fundamental Elementary School. I graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in English, minor in education. I now have my Literacy Micro-Credential, ESOL, Civics, and Reading Endorsements, as well as a Gifted Micro-Credential. This will be my 9th year teaching with Pinellas County Schools, and my 6th year teaching at TSFES.

I am a Florida native—born and raised in St. Petersburg. I’m a proud father of three delightful children: a 9-year-old son, a 6-year-old daughter, and an energetic toddler. I love spending time with my wife and children, being outdoors, staying active, working with computers, trying new things, watching movies, and gardening. We have a dog named Daxter and 2 hens. Finally... Let’s go Bucs!

I am passionate about working with kids and leading them discover new things about the world around them. I’m eager to collaborate with parents and families as we embark on this exciting new school year. It is my mission to help enrich all students to become self-reliant, confident, effective communicators, critical thinkers, and problem-solvers to best prepare them for 3rd grade and beyond!

Mrs. Wendy Racer

I am a passionate elementary educator with more than 20 years of experience helping children discover the joy of learning. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee Temple University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a Reading Endorsement, ESOL, ESE, certifications in Waldorf Education, and have also studied at Word of Life Bible Institute in upstate New York.

Teaching is truly my calling. I love working alongside my students, making learning engaging, meaningful, and fun. I believe in balancing academic rigor with creativity, curiosity, and a touch of whimsy. There is nothing more rewarding than watching children laugh, grow in confidence, and experience the excitement of learning something new.

Outside the classroom, I am blessed to be the wife of a wonderful husband and the mother of four amazing children. My family keeps life full of adventure, and I am incredibly proud of each of their accomplishments. We also share our home with two beloved dogs. My husband is an avid ATV racer and currently holds first place in his GNCC division.

I consider myself fortunate to spend each day doing what I love most—helping children learn, grow, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
